LCD (Sharp LQ94D041)
The 540c shipped with one of three different LCD panels, manufactured by either Sharp, Toshiba, or Hosiden. The Sharp and Toshiba panels both use electrolytic capacitors and should be recapped. I believe the Hosiden panel is fully solid state. This reference info applies only to the Sharp panel.
The display capacitors are frequently replaced with ceramic capacitors. These may work, but have been shown to result in drifting contrast on certain LCD displays. This is caused by ceramic capacitors' characteristic where the capacitance varies based on voltage load. As such, I would recommend replacing them with tantalum caps instead.
